Downtown Columbus & German Village Senior Session with Liam from Westerville South High School

Liam attends Westerville South High School and if he looks familiar, it might be that you have seen him at one of their athletic events as a section leader. He has the best personality, so there was no surprise when I found out he was involved with this at school! I loved working with Liam, and due to the weather, we were able to spend two Summer evenings together in Columbus for his senior pictures!

Senior Pictures with a Sibling

We actually started his senior photo session with his sister joining in a few photos. I love to include siblings if they are up for it! The more the merrier! Truly, it makes sense to do a few together while you are already dressed and ready to go with a photographer. These two were quite a pair and had me laughing the whole time! We had fun walking the sidewalks of Schiller Park and then the side streets in German Village, and we were able to create a beautiful canvas for the wall at home.

After his sister left, we continued to walk around Shiller Park and the streets of German Village for the rest of his session that day.

Love love love the brick wall backdrops that German Village is known for. One of the best places for a photo session in Columbus!

We also found this great little spot inside Shiller Park for a quick photo before changing outfits. The brick wall was a great backdrop for a couple of headshots. On our way out of this urban park, this iron fence with plants and flowers was a perfect stop! We also used this time to check the weather because the wind started picking up out of nowhere. One of the hardest parts of being a senior photographer is trying to predict the weather in Central Ohio!

The floral area of Schiller Park is always a YES for me!

What If It Rains for My Senior Pictures?

This is such a common question! Usually we will plan ahead and reschedule, but on this beautiful Summer day, there was no rain expected! Then suddenly, the wind picked up and things began to change.

It looked like we had a big more time before the rain began, so we walked back over to some side streets that border the park. We stopped on the brick sidewalk for a few more senior pictures with that classic German Village vibe. Unfortunately, it started to rain at this point and we had to take a quick pause. It didn’t take long before we realized we were not going to be able to complete his whole session in one day. Thankfully, we were all able to be flexible during his session and we waited for a break in the rain to at least finish the photos at German Village.

Continuing Senior Pictures on Another Day

Since we realized that the pop-up rain was not going to end any time soon, we opted to schedule part 2 of Liam’s senior photography session for another day. This part of the session was to take place in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. Sometimes we have to be flexible since we can't control the weather (sure wish we could!).

Senior Portraits in Downtown Columbus

We met up by the Scioto Mile for the second day of his senior pictures. This time he decided to sport his Westerville South High School lacrosse jersey. This isn’t the first time I have photographed a Westerville South High School lacrosse player, but this is the first time I have done so at the Scioto Mile fountains. I love how these turned out! Photographing athletes is always fun : )

But I think one of the best parts of Liam’s senior photo session in downtown is the way the sunlight hit just perfectly when he put on his suit. I am an advocate for dressing up for at least some senior pictures when you are deciding what to wear in the Summer, and for his session it was no different. The tall grasses and plants near the river caught the sunlight just right so these are some of my favorites!

Senior Pictures on Main St. Bridge in Columbus, OH

Of course we can’t do senior pictures in Columbus downtown without getting a great view of the skyline! I love this scene from the Main Street bridge. It really shows off his time living in Columbus, regardless of where life takes him after high school.

Liam, your energy and sense of humor was a joy to be around. I can see why you were a student section leader this year! You absolutely have a bright future ahead of you and I hope these photos remind you of many wonderful experiences you had in high school!

Looking to take your senior pictures in German Village? Or maybe you prefer something downtown Columbus that shows off the Columbus skyline? Either way, we can create something perfect for you! Let’s talk!
