Harrison's senior session had an element that made it extra unique - a vibrant sunset in Columbus, Ohio. In a sea of cloudy midwestern days, we occasionally get some color coming through as the sun goes down in the evening. We aren't always in a position to see it, but by planning the park portion of this Upper Arlington senior's pictures first, we were able to get downtown just in time for the colors to begin to show.

Senior Pictures in a Park before Sunset
If you are planning to take photos in a natural location such as a woods or park, I usually plan this first because it will get darker in the trees earlier than other areas. If we are lucky enough to have a sunset, you also will not see it when you are deep in a wooded area. We started our afternoon at this beautiful park with rocks, trees, and water views everywhere. We didn't know if we would see any color in the sky or not, but in an open area like downtown, there is a chance we will be doing senior pictures at sunset and actually be able to see color.

So many structures here both natural and man-made that we can use for senior picture posing.
Senior Photos with a Sibling before Sunset
When Harrison's mom mentioned the close relationship he has with his brother, I knew we could create some great sibling shots if he was up for joining the session. I was thrilled he was able to make it and it was a joy to see the two of them together. They definitely have a bond that only brothers can share and we were able to get some photos for them both to hold on to after graduation day comes and goes.
Fancy Senior Pictures Downtown
We drove to the Scioto Mile area of Downtown Columbus and Harrison changed into his suit. There is so much to love about a suit and tie for senior photos! One thing that he chose to do is to wear it different ways. With and without the jacket, for example. Check out how the orange & pink sunlight is reflecting onto the downtown building behind him!
Sunset Senior Pictures
As the sun started to set over the water, we turned him around so we were able to capture both his face and the colors in the sky at sunset. These senior pictures are some of my favorite from the night.

We continued to walk around downtown Columbus taking more senior photos. The vibrant colors reflected over the Scioto River winding through downtown Columbus making a stunning backdrop for Harrison's senior photography session.

We ended the evening up on the bridge overlooking the Downtown Columbus skyline. This suit seriously made the photos! Once the sun was pretty much down, we were able to show off the city lights at night on the downtown buildings in the background of his senior pictures. Such a unique and fancy way to end his senior portrait session!
