9 Fun Things to do Senior Year

Senior year is IT! It's the last one of all the things. Likely the best one of many of them as you get first pick for everything over the other students in your school. Your parents are starting to see you as more of an adult, and you're able to have a little more freedom than before.
Go all in on the spirited school experiences: Attend the football games wearing the theme outfits, dress up for pep rally days, sign up for a senior tag team, and wear your "SENIOR" and high school mascot gear proudly. If you can make it work, travel with friends to the state basketball or swim meet to cheer on your classmates as they make school history!

College Planning: If you plan to attend college after high school, make sure to take the necessary steps to prepare. Attend college fairs, research potential schools, and schedule visits to campuses to help make informed decisions about your future. Get your applications done early to reduce stress.

Say Thank You: Take the time to thank the people who have supported you throughout your high school years. This can include teachers, coaches, mentors, and family members. A thoughtful note or inexpensive but sentimental gift can mean so much to those that were behind you all the way.

Organize Photos and Memories: High school is full of memories and momentos, and it's a great idea to organize them before moving on to the next chapter in your life. Create a photo album or scrapbook with pictures, or make a keepsake box full special items like athletic pins, prom flowers, programs from the school play you were in, or any other things that tell the story of your high school experience.
Take Time for Yourself: Preparing to graduate high school can be stressful, so make sure to take time for yourself. Whether it's reading a book, going for a walk or run in nature, or working on a hobby you enjoy, it's important to take time "off" as well.

Attend Prom: Prom is a traditional rite of passage for high school seniors, and it's a great opportunity to dress up, dance, and make memories with your friends. If you hate to dance, it doesn't matter. Just dress up and take photos and go eat dinner with your besties. Check out our resources on where to buy a prom dress or where to take prom pictures. Oh, and don't forget to get your prom bouquets planned in advance!

Do Senior Pictures - like for real senior pictures not more cell phone shots you take every weekend. Work with a professional photographer that specializes in high school senior photography, wear all the outfits, go all the places you want, and include everything that you have in mind. An experienced photographer will be able to help your parents actually get them printed, too, so they aren't just on your phone but can be on display at your graduation party and in their house. And of course, don't forget to take Cap & Gown photos!

Senior Trip: Plan a senior trip with your friends to celebrate the end of high school. Whether it's a weekend road trip or a week-long beach vacation, it's a great way to bond with your friends and create some of those final senior-year memories. Spring break senior year is a great time to travel, but if that's too busy, save it for Summer as a last big group activity.

Plan a celebration! I'm talking graduation party or dinner or weekend away to truly celebrate this major life milestone! Send out the graduation announcements with all the details and let your friends and family spoil you as you close this chapter in your life.
